SSL, security, E-commerce, object bundling
The Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is a security protocol used by Internet browsers and servers that provides security for e-commerce transactions. A major inefficiency in SSL performance is its slow execution. SSL uses a separate encryption key for each object in a web page; therefore, as the number of objects increases the performance of the page decreases. In this article we describe a technique that uses image bundling to enhance SSL performance. Study results show that our approach enhances SSL web page performance for secure web sites.
