Abstract

As more and more everyday tasks become computer-based and increasing numbers of untrained users depend on computers, the need for assistants to aid the user has become necessary. Increasingly, intelligent software agents are being used to fulfill this role. This paper describes CLEV-R, a Collaborative Learning Environment with Virtual Reality, which is a novel e-learning system that provides students with an interactive and motivating way to learn on-line. In this paper we describe the features of CLEV-R and outline how agents are used in this system to provide navigational and personal assistance for its users. In particular, we discuss the conceptual models for the application of agent technologies to this multimedia e-Learning environment.
