Abstract

Decentralized control is the most attractive structure to control multivariable processes, and control configuration selection is a vital stage in this process. In this paper, a new input–output pairing method based upon the output controllability analysis of multi input–multi output processes is presented. All control configuration selection methodologies which use the state space model of plant for pairing analysis are applicable only to stable multivariable plants. This method considers the dynamic behaviour of stable, unstable and/or time delayed multivariable processes in pairing analysis. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the methodology and its superiorities to the old pairing strategies.
