ABR signal, medical informatics, signal processing.
The present paper contains a description of a computer system supporting the diagnostic process of patient's hearing abilities, by means of objective hearing examination based on the analysis of Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) and automated detection of the characteristic features, determining these abilities. The main purpose of the paper is the elimination from the diagnostic process the presence of highly specialized audiological staff, which up to now has been necessary for determination of the characteristic features of ABR (including wave V), and thus effectively worked out the decision about the patient's condition. The system works sequentially, which means that at first the acquisition of ABR data is carried out, then the data undergo a preprocessing, and in the further stage their detailed analysis takes place. In the design process, aimed at construction of a system for ABR analysis, the following individual tasks have been solved: Creation and testing of algorithms for automated analysis of ABR recordings Creation of software packages, working under Windows and Pocket PC operating systems, for cooperation with the KubaMikro device.
