The paper first reviews earlier work on a methodology named Structural Communication (SC) that achieved some success in automating collaborative discussion in a way that competes with facilitated small group methods. Then, the paper describes a methodology that combines some aspects of SC with interactive Web based discussion to create an effective and efficient alternative to classroom-based case study discussion. Finally, some key research findings are summarized, suggesting that this methodology may be more effective than the facilitated small group for promoting creative ideas, as well as being more efficient and multipliable.
