Radiosity, Mesh-Refinement, Image Sequences, Temporal Flicker, Hardware Rendering
A new technique is suggested for rendering image se quences with global diffuse illumination. The primary ob stacles to success in such an effort, rendering time and tem poral flicker, are avoided through the use of an adaptive meshing algorithm coupled with a synthetic (approximate) radiosity algorithm. The adaptive meshing is based on a physical model of point masses inter-connected by zero rest-length springs. The synthetic radiosity is achieved as a vertex-based accumulation of first-order renderings.
