Abstract

While there is now a considerable amount of information available with respect to concussion in sport, very little of it seems to be filtering down to the athlete. In an attempt to provide educational content directly to the sport participant in a medium that will engage them, we set about creating a novel game environment. Our design employs a first person video game platform that we believe will capture the attention of our young audience while educating them about concussion in sport. This paper describes the rationale and theoretical constructs that inform our design and a typical learning game play scenario that illustrates the design features of our prototype system.
