Fault Tolerance, dynamic distributed systems, proactive, middleware, reconfiguration analysis, and control.
Reliability is one of the most important aspects in the design of distributed systems. In practice reliability can be improved gradually by making the system fault tolerant at least in certain situations, that is increasing its general level of tolerance by improving fault detection and identification. The emphasis of this paper is in the fault tolerance aspects in an adaptive middleware platform that proactively reconfigures the system utilizing context collection and analyses. In addition, this paper also introduces a procedure for keeping an account on reliability of the system reconfiguration by reliability marking.
