Bluetooth, Polling Schemes, Piconet, Credit-based Round Robin.
Bluetooth is an emerging standard for short range, low cost, low power, and wireless access technology. Many polling schemes that would perform well in throughput or end-to-end delay have been presented. However, these schemes do not address the impact on system performance, which is produced by many idle slaves in a single piconet. This study proposes a credit-based scheduling mechanism for Bluetooth intra-piconet called Credit-based Round Robin (CRR) to optimize the system performance even when not all slaves can be kept constantly active in a Bluetooth piconet. The performance of CRR is compared with several conventional polling schemes by simulation.
