Distance “eDucation” in Alaska
This paper will discuss the issues of quality and current trends in distance web-based delivery models of mathematics courses in Alaska. Electronically distributed (web-based) delivery system (Distance “eDucation”) is considered and evaluated in the modern Alaska setting (its cultural and geographical context). Challenges and needs of new technological approaches will be discussed. Valuable insight from the experienced faculty and students will be shared. This paper will clearly show that although distance education does have certain obstacles, they can be overcome without significant difficulties.
