This paper deals with the Midpoint voltage control problem of a power system consisting of a single generator connected to an infinite bus using an Advanced Static VAr Compensator (ASVC). We propose two controllers design a high gain PI-like controller and an observer-based controller, which enables to regulate the midpoint voltage to a desired reference voltage. The proposed control design is based on the derivation of a suitable model of the midpoint voltage dynamics. Simulation results are provided to compare the performance of both controllers. It is shown that both controllers perform well in regulating the midpoint voltage to its reference value.
