Web application, authentication, security, watermarking
When a Web server is accessed from a Web browser, it is important for the Web server to authenticate the Web browser user at the time of logon. The purpose of this paper is to improve the security of Web applications. An application program and a database are installed in a Web server. We investigate how to use a face image, encryption, a user-programmable smart card and watermarking. We propose a new scheme for a Web server to authenticate the user by means of a face image, message authentication codes and watermarking. We also investigate a Web application using portable devices.
