TDD-WCDMA MAC protocol, Fairness, QoS guarantee
This paper proposes a medium access control protocol called Code Grouping Multiple Access (CGMA), which partitions mobile users into virtual code groups to enhance channel utilization for multimedia traffic in a TDD WCDMA environment. Channel access for delay insensitive traffic is isolated from real time traffic to provide different levels of QoS. Delay insensitive traffic is scheduled through exponential moving average weighted queues while real time traffic is scheduled according tot he mobile packet dropping rates. Computer simulation studies show that CGMA facilitates fair sharing of wireless resources under noisy channel conditions with QoS guarantees, especially for loads near system peak capacity.
