Turbo codes, satellite modem, iterative decoding
Two new concepts are reflected in the architecture of this satellite equipment: firstly it implements a turbo coding scheme that can be used with different modulations at various coding and data rates function of the user’s application and secondly, it has an “all access architecture”. The coding scheme can be used in non linear channels that operate close to saturation and can be dynamically changed function of the type of application the user is running. The whole system architecture can be dynamically monitored, tested, upgraded or changed for various applications subject to the available system resources: power and bandwidth.
