direct sequence spread spectrum, chip-interleaving, fast fading.
Average bit error rate performances of both conventional direct sequence spread spectrum system and the chip interleaving direct sequence spread spectrum system over fast Rician fading channel are studied. Binary phase-shift keying modulation with coherent demodulation of the specular component of the received signal is considered. Under fast fading condition, it is assumed that the Rayleigh fading component of the channel remains constant only over the chip duration. Classical Jakes’ Doppler spectrum is used in simulating the fast Rician fading channel. Simulation results show that considerable performance improvement can be achieved by the chip interleaving system.
