Wireless ATM; adaptive modulation; threshold level; performance.
To improve the performance of wireless networks, several adaptive transmission schemes have been proposed. In this context, adaptive modulation has received a lot of attention in the last few years. In this paper we computed the switching points between neighbouring modulation schemes in the wireless ATM networks that use adaptive modulation. New criteria has been proposed and the optimum switching point has been computed for each criterion. We have shown that the switching points depend on the kind of traffic transferred through the network and on the QoS parameters.
