multicast routing protocol, end-to-end propagation delay, multihop wireless network
In this paper we propose a protocol for forwarding multicast data packets originated other than a group shared multicast tree root node. Our protocol is referred to as Delay Minimization Multicast Routing Protocol (DMMRP). The protocol uses 2-hop local ring search to establish new forwarding path. 2-hop local ring search limits the scope of flooding and speeds up data packet delivery. Performance comparison of DMMRP with AODV shows that DMMRP is able to achieve improvement in end-to-end propagation delay.
