Reactive Power Reserve. Security Enhancement. Voltage Control.
This paper describes a methodology for reactive power reserve management. It is presented a method to compute the reactive power reserve at a given set of load buses of a power system. A margin is aimed at for assessing the system robustness with respect to voltage collapse. An illustrative example and simulation results are obtained on a realistic power network, the CEMIG system, with 187 buses, 34 machines, 98 loads, 256 branches, and 94 transformers.
