: This paper presents a fuzzy sliding mode controller for an induction motor position control to reduce the sensitivity to parameter variations and load disturbances.. The proposed control scheme combines a fuzzy controller and a sliding mode controller. The fuzzy controller is driven by the switching surface error and its change. The control rule is established based on a systematic procedure. The sliding mode controller is designed based on a plant model. Both computer simulations and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed fuzzy sliding mode controller is insensitive to parameter variations and load disturbances.
