Ad-hoc networks, low-power routing
The greater than linear relationship between transmit energy and distance allows to reduce the energy cost when the radio link is partitioned. Multihop optimization schemes have been developed for simple settings of nodes. In this paper we study the problem for general, non-regular topologies. We give algorithms to locate intermediate nodes that minimize the energy. The algorithms are based on energy models combined with a relevant power management scheme. Furthermore, we modify the multihop optimization to meet the timing requirements of sensor-actuator networks.
