wireless sensor networks, motes, healthcare, network management
The adaptation and implementation of network management methods and techniques could act as a catalyst in the development of robust wireless sensor network (motes) applications for health monitoring purposes. This existing area of knowledge – network management – acts as such a vehicle because it faces similar problems, such as the polling, monitoring, storing and fusing vast amounts of data coming from hundreds or sometimes thousands of devices. The authors outline the proof of concept of this innovative approach of adapting network management tools and techniques for the development and implementation for their smart, sensorial personal healthcare monitoring prototypes.
