Abstract

In the Adaptive Hypermedia Systems Community, the most popular reference model, based on the Dexter model, is Adaptive Hypermedia Application Model (AHAM). Such a reference model is in our mind indispensable to the Learning Objects Community we belong to, if adaptive systems are to be efficiently implemented. In this paper, we propose the Lausanne Reference Model, which extends AHAM to adapt it to our needs. After briefly describing the state of the art in Adaptive Systems, we concentrate on the AHAM model and examine its limitations in the framework of our context. We then explain how our model gets around these limitations by proposing some contextually useful characteristics.
