Simulation, active filters, harmonics and power factor
Active filters may be used to reduce the harmonics and improve the power factor of electric power delivery systems containing nonlinear loads. These filters utilize power electronic components and use active control of several feedback loops to accomplish this. As each loop must be tuned correctly, the design process can be tedious and difficult. This paper discusses the benefits of using simulation to develop a design methodology for active filters.
