Virtual learning environments, simulation gaming, communication training
This paper describes experiences from a management course in a business school, aiming at virtual team and communications skills development. To reach the learning goals of the course, a decentralized business simulation game was applied and tailored. The virtual teams formed during the course were geographically and organizationally decentralized, and they were brought together by information and telecommunication technologies. We will first introduce the theoretical ideas behind the communication skills course. After this we will introduce the structure of the course and the technical architecture in the simulation game. Finally, we will illustrate some of the learning results from the learning experiment.
