Abstract

A general (global) model for the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) systems was developed. The model developed accounts for most metal transfer modes within an acceptable droplet size range. In this paper different parts of the GMAW process are modeled, and at the end all models are combined together to form a global model of the GMAW process. The model predicts both the temperature and time variable properties of GMAW systems for most popular metal transfer modes. Model prediction results have been compared with experimental results, and have shown good agreement.
