Abstract

This paper describes the performance of simultaneous control of torque and contactless power extraction in Salient Pole Synchronous Machine (SPSM) using Direct Torque Control (DTC). When the field windings are left unexcited, the saliency produces reluctance torque and the stator current is modulated with higher frequency component would establish induced voltages in the rotor, which could be used for supplying torque and power to rotor-mounted load. This technique eliminates slip rings in the rotating assembly. Normally, DTC technique is used to maintain constant torque only. Here, an empirical equation is derived to obtain the reference flux to produce constant torque as well as rotating secondary transformer action. The simulation results well demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed stator flux control scheme in stationary reference frame is much faster than rotor reference frame.
