Evolutionary games, biomathematical modelling, heterogeneity
Evolutionary game theory has been widely used to simulate tumor processes. Inter-cellular interactions that occur within tumor populations are good examples of biological evolutionary games for space and nutrients. One of the hallmarks of cancer cells is their heterogeneity which should be included in modelling their interactions. One way to do this is to introduce multilayer scheme in the spatial evolutionary games. These games are played on multiple lattices corresponding to the possible phenotypes and give possibility to simulate and investigate heterogeneity on the player-level in addition to the population-level.
