Battery charger, lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery, temperature feedback
In this study, we propose a charging strategy involving a constant voltage and current-limited charging mode in which temperature increases are monitored and fed back to modulate the charging cycle. The experimental results show that the temperature increase was limited to 0.6 °C and that the charging time was reasonably short at 7620 s. The charging strategy was implemented using TSMC 0.35-μm CMOS process, resulting in a chip with an area of 0.4142 mm 2 . The output voltage was approximately 4.2 V, and no compensation capacitor was used. The proposed strategy can achieve the charging of an implantable medical device with a small temperature increase and high efficiency.
